Who are the Guardians?
The Guardians are the modern day “Gatekeepers” of the church.
In 1 Chronicles 23, King David was growing older as king of Israel. He gathered the Levites, 30 years old and above. There were 38,000. King David took 4,000 of these select men and called them “Gatekeepers”. In 1 Chronicles 26:6, we see “they were strong, capable men.” And in verse 12, they “had duties of ministering in the Lord’s temple”.
There were (4) gates to the temple and Gatekeepers were stationed at all four gates, north, south, east and west.
In 2 Chronicles 23:16, the priest Jehoiada, who was hiding the future King of Israel (King Joash), 7 years old, made a covenant between himself, the king and the people that they would be the Lord’s people, so they went down to the temple of Baal and tore it down. After returning to the temple Jehoiada put the oversight of the Lord’s temple into the hands of the Levitical priests, whom David had appointed… and in Verse 19 He (Jehoiada) stationed “Gatekeepers” at the gates of the Lord’s temple so that nothing unclean could enter for any reason.
Today… “The time has come AGAIN.” The Guardians are men who have made a covenant between their pastor and the Church that they will be the Lord’s people. These select men protect the church from the attacks of Satan upon the body of Christ. We are still capable men of strength, standing watch at the (4) gates of the Church. Prepared to minister to all who come, and give them a safe place to experience the Love of God.
We stand confident as Guardians, we are willing to lay down our lives to protect others from harm, unafraid, for we know that our place in heaven is eternally secure through Christ Jesus our King.
One Question: Are You One of these Select Men?
